A typical home health patient

  • is home-bound, meaning that leaving home is a considerable and taxing effort
  • is under the care of a physician and skilled nursing is required
  • needs teaching on new medication
  • may need administration / teaching on insulin
  • requires monitoring / teaching on exacerbation of disease process

 

  • may need dressing changes or wound care
  • may need physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy
  • may need an MSW to evaluate home environment and utilize community services available
  • needs home health aide assist with activities of daily living
  • needs lab draws for diagnostic / monitoring
  • will receive an overall increase in quality of life for the patient
